As schools today have assumed greater responsibilities and the role of schools has become more complex, educators are among the first to admit that they cannot possibly possess all the information and expertise necessary to meet all of the needs of students today.
Parents, business and other community stakeholders have essential roles to play in the total effort to improve student achievement. A Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) can be an excellent vehicle for fostering this cooperative spirit.
The bottom line is that the job of educating our youth is a big one, too big for the professionals to accomplish alone. In addition to innovative initiatives like Class Dojo and POSSIP, Rockwood Preparatory Academy will continue to seek out effective ways to elicit the support, advice, expertise and energy of parents and other community people to help form and shape our programs to best meet the changing needs of our students.
Who benefits from this cooperation? Everyone! Each PAC member plays a role as the PAC works together for school improvement.
NOTE: This is not a PTA or a fund-raising group. This is a deliberative body that openly discussed the most difficult topic and generates actions which in-turn generate results!
PLEASE JOIN US! Don't be shy, all voices are welcome. We meet on the last Monday of each month at 6:30 (Usually in Ms. McCarthy’s classroom).
